Surecast

In summer 2026, RBKC introduced Meanwhile Gardens to Surecast, who were working nearby on the new GP surgery on Kensal Road and looking for a meaningful way to contribute to the local community through their social value commitment.

Rather than arriving with a predetermined project, we walked through the Gardens together and looked at where Surecast's practical skills could make the greatest difference. In the Moroccan Garden, a timber viewpoint had deteriorated over time. Set among mature trees and planting, it's a quiet place from which visitors can pause and experience one of the Gardens'; more secluded spaces – but damaged posts and handrails were in need of repair. Over two days, members of the Surecast team replaced the damaged timber posts and handrails, cleaned the existing structure and treated the completed viewpoint, with all labour and materials generously provided by Surecast.

The result is a restored structure that sits naturally within its surroundings and can once again be enjoyed as part of this distinctive corner of Meanwhile. It's a relatively small intervention, but one with a lasting impact – and a lovely example of what can happen
when local organisations share their skills, time and resources to care for a place that belongs to everyone.
